Hi! I’m Alex aka Sasha! I was born in Cherkasy, Ukraine. I grew up in Vancouver, BC, went to uni in Montreal, and now I am based in New York City.

In my work, I explore themes of curiosity and absurdity. In a sense, these are two parts of a whole. First, you are invited to be curious, then you may discover the absurd.

Recently, my photographic focus has been on experimentation. I’ve been playing with strange techniques like using non-visible light & photomicroscopy, I’ve been exploring how I do and don’t want to use AI in my creative process, and have been building tools to enable these explorations. At my day job on the Creative Camera Team at Google, I work on pushing the limits of computational photography and AI enabled camera experiences. Try them out on your Pixel smartphone or in Google Photos.
